The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) will hold its final community workshop Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon to discuss changes and upgrades to the Wilmington/Imperial/Rosa Parks Blue Line station.
The workshop will be held in the cafeteria at Ronald McNair Elementary School, 1450 W. El Segundo Blvd., Compton.
The meeting will feature presentation of the initial conceptual station redesign including the creation of a pedestrian plaza, partial relocation of the bus bays and short-term parking, and construction of a new parking structure for those who drive to the station.
The pedestrian plaza is proposed for where the parking is now underneath the platform and community resident have asked for consideration for a farmer’s market. The parking structure is proposed for Wilmington Avenue.
Residents are being asked for their input on whether the station needs upgrading as well as what changes are wanted.
Once this information is gathered, Metro will seek additional funding to do feasibility and environmental studies on the ideas suggested.
