“We believe in continuing Dr. C. Diane Howell’s legacy and creating job, home-buyer and college resources for the African-American community. You definitely want to be part of history in the making,” said Wright.
The three-day-event will feature the red-carpet, black-tie Diamond Diversity Awards dinner on July 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Scott’s Restaurant in Jack London Square. The event will honor those who continue to support diversity in the community. During the dinner, over $10,000 in scholarships will be presented to college-bound students.
“As a former team member of the late Dr. C. Diane Howell, it brings me great honor to continue the legacy of the Diamond Diversity Awards, and help bring education resources to our youth,” said Karen Allen, Awards Committee chair.
On July 17, Black Expo will feature a live residential home auction, in conjunction with the San Francisco Housing Development Corporation and APD Solutions. A health pavilion sponsored by Kaiser Permanente will feature prevention and nutrition workshops and several resources in health care and medical needs. Lastly, Saturday’s extravaganza will encompass a business procurement workshop spearheaded by the Black Economic Council as well as several corporate exhibitors who are accepting resumes for hire.
On July 18, Black Expo partners with the Oakland Raiders to host the Raiders Family Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will include appearances from several Raiderettes and Raider players. In addition, the day features Black Expo’s “Top Chef,” where one chef will be crowned “Top Chef of the Bay.” Sunday’s events will also include the Entrepreneurship Think-Tank, which will review and award a cash prize to the best business plan. Finally, an Education Forum will be held to discuss the issues surrounding youth and schools.
